From a young age, hockey—and especially goaltending—has been a lifelong passion of mine. When my son expressed an interest in playing, I was overjoyed, particularly given that we had been advised that children with ADHD might struggle in team sports. His enthusiasm for the game became the catalyst for my journey into coaching.

Alongside my close friends Jay and Alex, I quickly discovered a deep love for coaching and mentoring young athletes. When my son transitioned to goaltending—something close to my heart as a former goalie—I began researching drills and lesson plans to support his development. What I found was a significant gap in how young goalies are taught: much of the available instruction was overly generalized, failing to address individual learning styles or needs.

This realization became even clearer as I began working with other young goaltenders. I observed that while some kids respond well to verbal instruction, others thrive with visual demonstrations. That insight led me to put my own pads back on to model the techniques—and the impact was immediate. The goalie I was helping showed remarkable improvement, eventually becoming one of the top performers in the league.

As my experience grew, it became clear that this personalized approach could benefit many more players—not just goalies. With the support of Jay, Alex, their partners, and my wife Alannah, we set out to build a training environment where every child, regardless of their background, ability, or learning style, could thrive.

Because hockey is for everyone—and no child should be left behind.

CURRICULUM DEVELOPER

Hockey has been a lifelong passion, but it wasn’t until my children began playing that I recognized how closely my career in education aligns with coaching. With 15 years of experience in education, I specialize in creating inclusive, differentiated learning environments that empower students to reach and exceed their personal goals. I believe that every child has the potential to succeed, and my role as an educator—and as a coach—is to provide the tools and support they need to surpass their own expectations.

When my son first played hockey, I noticed that many of the coaching methods in use were outdated and not meeting his needs. Motivated to make a difference, I decided to step in as a coach. In my second year, I connected with Casey and Jay, who shared similar philosophies on how to help players learn and grow. As we gained experience, we realized that our individual strengths complemented each other, and we built a coaching approach centered on empowering players, fostering growth, and making the game accessible to all.

BUSINESS STRATEGIST

With over 30 years of experience both on ice and behind the bench as a coach, hockey has always been more than just a game for me. It has shaped who I am. It’s been a constant, a passion, and a place of belonging. As a neurodivergent adult and a parent to neurodivergent children, my journey through the sport took on new meaning when I began coaching my own kids. That’s when I started to notice the gaps in traditional programs that weren’t built to support the way they learn, communicate, and thrive. Watching them struggle to communicate their needs and seeing them feel so defeated was difficult and I knew I had to step in and fill those gaps for them. 

Alongside my wonderful partner Kat, and the rest of the Triple E team, this realization became the driving force behind creating a development program where all players, especially those who are neurodivergent, can be seen, supported, and successful. 

I understand the importance of adapting to different learning styles, supporting sensory needs and I am well-versed in strategies to support routine tasks, and visual learning. My approach is rooted in patience, creativity, and connection, meeting each player where they’re at, because development looks different for everyone, and that's not just okay, it’s powerful.

My goal is simple: make hockey a space where inclusion isn’t an add-on, it’s the foundation. I am committed to breaking barriers, building self-esteem, fostering connection, and guiding every player to find their place in this incredible sport.

NEURODIVERSITY CONSULTANT

As a Speech-Language Pathologist with over 12 years of experience, I bring both professional expertise and personal insight to my role within the Triple E Hockey team. I am a proud hockey mom whose passion for the game stems from supporting my husband and children on the ice. As a neurodivergent individual and parent to neurodivergent children, I understand firsthand the challenges that can arise when traditional coaching methods don’t align with a child’s unique way of learning.

My journey began when my oldest child started playing sports and struggled to understand and execute instructions. Drawing on my background in communication and learning support, I began to “translate” information into strategies that made sense to him. This not only helped him grow as a player but also significantly boosted his confidence—on and off the ice.

I believe every child deserves to feel understood, supported, and empowered. My goal is to make hockey more accessible by working collaboratively with coaches to offer individualized recommendations tailored to each player's cognitive, sensory, emotional, and learning needs. I use a multimodal approach and value all forms of communication to ensure each player has the tools to succeed.

At Triple E Hockey, I am committed to fostering an environment where every child is welcomed, accepted, and celebrated for who they are.

BRAND/WEB DESIGNER

As a non-binary person, I’m passionate about building a safe space where everyone can develop their hockey skills and love for the game. I am also a neurodivergent individual and proud parent to neurodivergent kids. When I’m not working on a creative project, you can find me cheering on my partner and kids, who are all deeply involved in the hockey community.

With my background in event and media production, I had the privilege of designing the brand and website for Triple E Hockey. I look forward to continuing my support through marketing to help expand its reach and impact. I’m genuinely excited to contribute to a space where everyone has the opportunity to learn and grow in a sport so loved by so many.

Celebrate Small Wins

We recognize progress at every level, no matter how small. Whether through a compliment, or a high-five, we acknowledge each player’s achievements. We celebrate persistence, support mistakes as part of growth, and always speak with purpose.

Positive Constructive Feedback

Our team provides feedback that focuses on progress and technique. The Triple E approach includes specific examples of where a player has had growth and where they can improve. We ensure that feedback is meaningful so that players are empowered by their successes.

Model Positive Attitudes

We believe that attitude shapes the experience on and off the ice. Our coaches model positive attitudes by showing up with energy, excitment, and encouragement every day. We lead with respect, patience, and a belief that every player has potential.

Personalized Skill Development

Our one-on-one coaching offers personalized support that focuses on each player’s unique strengths and needs. An indivualized development plan allows players to progress at their own pace.

Individual Goals

We help each player set personal, attainable goals to support their skill development. Whether it's mastering a specific skill, or improving overall performance, achieving these goals fosters confidence and a sense of accomplishment.

Small Group Coaching

We offer different sized group sessions based on the players’ skill level or specific needs. These small group sessions allow for us to embrace every player’s unique learning preferences, pace, and personality. While fostering connection, and confidence to grow together.

Interactive Drills

Our interactive drills keep players engaged while reinforcing muscle memory as well as automatic responses. These drills allow players to experiment, fail safely, and try again. This builds resilience and helps players learn to adjust confidently on their own.

Game-Based Training

Our program incorporate small area games or challenges. This keeps players actively engaged, and encourages skill development in a competitive yet supportive environment. Engaged players focus longer, retain more, and are less likely to feel overwhelmed or discouraged. Game-based scenarios replicate the chaos and creativity of real hockey, not just technical steps.

Position-Specific Training

We train players based on the position they play: forward, defense, and goaltending. Position-specific training helps players improve their skills and gain confidence in their role on the ice. This leads to an increase in ability to process the game in real time, make quicker decisions, and anticipate plays (Hockey IQ).
